Make yourself a lean, mean, learning machine while in college and you will go far. The college years are when life long habits are formed. Creating good habits now will ensure an easier transition into career and a solid foundation for life skills. Give yourself every chance to succeed by making these habits:
SLEEP NO MATTER WHAT
Do not consider an ‘all-nighter’ as a productive way of doing anything. Not only does the human body need sleep to maintain organ function, but the human brain needs sleep to work properly.
CUT FAST FOOD OUT
Sure, we all need to eat. However, we don’t all need to eat fatty and greasy foods. Don’t fall victim to the freshman 15 by relying on fast food to satisfy you.
HAVE SELFISH TIME
Having selfish time can be taking a hike, working on a hobby, seeing a movie or anything you feel like doing. Doing so will refresh your brain and even allow you to retain material better.
KNOW YOUR PROFESSORS
Take a few minutes to really know your professors, especially the ones you really like. Visit them in their office and introduce yourself. Not only are these the types of friends you need in life, these are the people who will grade your papers.
SWEAT
Sweating causes the brain to release those wonderful endorphins that we’ve all heard about. The brain will do this at the provocation of any type of physical activity that lasts longer than 15 minutes. This clears the brain and body of toxins.
MAKE FRIENDS
Bonding with classmates makes the entire college experience more enriching. This doesn’t mean that you should party all night but you should align yourself with one or two of these like minded people.
STAY INSPIRED
Even the most passionate of students can begin to loathe their chosen field of study. Never again will you be so absorbed in your field of study as you are in college. Don’t let those feelings discourage you. Find ways to stay inspired or just tough out these emotional patches that you are sure to endure.
